The Three Amendments Created Because of the Civil War:
13th Amendment: abolished slavery, passed in 1865.
14th Amendment: extended full citizenship to African Americans, passed in 1868.
15th Amendment: guaranteed voting rights to African Americans, passed in 1870.
Black men had more rights than women of any other race after the 14th and 15th amendments were passed, because women were not yet considered equals to men. Another reason why women were not included in these two amendments was because the main cause of the Civil War was the disagreement of the ownership of enslaved people. The fight for women’s suffrage was not a main cause of the Civil War, so this issue was considered unimportant at the time.
